Sound City Stage @ Rockness

The Sound City Stage was a bastion of new and a few local bands, well at least before the festival it was. The stage played host to the competition to win numerous promotion based prizes (see the article here). It was therefore ironic that the stage suffered from a lack of promotion. Indeed it was only on Saturday that the sign appeared and that was firmly attached on the inside of the tent. The stage never appeared on the App or lanyard (We can understand the lanyard issues about line up but not location, and don’t get us started on … Read more

Battle for B-Fest at Ceol-Mor

The Battle for B-Fest at Ceol-Mor brought an amazingly strong strength of depth that was complimented by the vast array of genres on show. The format of the evening saw each of the 8 bands (apart from two, you know who you are hang your heads in shame) play three songs. The four judges were a collection of local band members, festival organiser and the on-line media (cough splutter). Toecutter on the prowl

Toecutter, are like the Phoenix rising from the ashes. Originally formed in 2008 as a Ramones and Misfits influenced, punk rock band, they acheived a level of success which saw them play gigs Scotland wide and accumulating in a third placing in the Global Battle Of The Bands Scottish final. A period of conflict and changed occurred following this, resulting in the band splitting up. 2011 marked a period of reconciliation and “various daemons were exorcised” seeing the three original members back together. The music by their own admission has evolved to include metal blast beats with stadium sized rock … Read more
