Interview with Adrian Telfer

I didn’t learn much German, but we did go on a school outing to East Berlin, right through Checkpoint Charlie. About that time, I was 11 or 12, my Dad gave me a nylon string guitar that he had bought in … Read more

Rhythmnreel Monthly – July

Hi boys and girls So now we have had July and what a month it has been for us. Summer is just about our busiest time what with the festival season and the gala dances all round the Highlands. Since I last wrote we have had a couple of riotous gigs at Kinlochbervie Games and Applecross Games – what a great bunch of (crazy) punters at these gigs. Rhythmnreel and The Frues storm the Pavillion

An audience of nearly 250 came together to raise funds for The Kids Of Kolkata Trust at Strathpeffer Pavilion on the 12th of August 2012. It’s hard to review an event at the best of times especially one that invernessGiGs were so involved in arranging, so we were very pleased when one of our writers, Lori Williams, volunteered: The Kids of Kolkata ceilidh dance was organised by Chris Lemon to … Read more

Local bands grow from Seedlings to Garden Stage

Last year it was The SIde that were promoted from the Seedlings to the Main Stage, this year we have two local bands making the jump in He Slept on 57 and Iain McLaughlin & The Outsiders. invernessGiGS has a huge amount of time for Iain McLaughlin & The Outsiders and the promotion to the main stage is a great acknowledgement of the huge amount of effort the band have continued to put into the scene over the last year. They missed out on our ones to watch at Belladrum 2011 and for that we should be shamed. The other … Read more
