Iain McLaughlin and the Outsiders on the rise

Posted on 12 January 2011

Much to our disgust, invernessGiGs has not seen Iain Mclaughlin with or without the Outsiders anywhere near enough as we should (the Bella Fringe event in 2010 was the last time). The recent Faultline GiG at the ironworks was a stand out:

forward to 4 mins 22 sec !!!

So invernessGiGs were pleased to hear that Iain had managed to get the supporting role with GlasVegas in their recent foray to the outer reaches. To be honest having heard the Faultline EP we were surprised to hear a softer more poignant sound than even as a solo artist we would expect. The six song ,half hour, set consisted of :

FEAR SONG

DON’T LOOK BEHIND YOU

THE LIGHT

I WANNA KNOW

SOMEONE FOR EVERYONE

BLIND

Response from the crowd was positive with the standouts of the set being the Fear song and The Light.  It was clear both from a brief chat before the GiG and his presence on the stage that Iain is enjoying his singing. Which is just as well as next on the agenda is with the Outsiders as they play their debut King Tuts show supporting Jonathan Carr on the 22nd of January.
